Might you be interested in an article with photographs on
identifying following cars at night by their patterns of headlights
and yellow parking lights. For example, a reader might be interested
to know that if the yellow lights are small and directly above the
headlights, the car is almost certainly a Volkswagen and therefore
almost certainly not a police car. The patterns of yellow lights
and headlights vary widely. Besides some photographs including
one of Highway 280 after dusk showing headlight patterns, there would
be a chart with drawings of the relative positions of the lights
in many cars on the road today.
